The EXPLORATION 45 by Garcia Yachting is an absolutely beautiful and impressive marine vessel that has been specifically designed to give exceptionally comfortable sailing in high latitudes, as well as excellent sailing in those warm tropical waters. Built in France by Garcia Yachting, and with architecture and design by Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design, this boat is simply superb.
With an enviable specification, this is an ideal boat for those wishing to undertake ocean sailing and should, indeed, accommodate even the most discerning customer who puts design and quality at the top of their list.
A very strong aluminium hull
The transom’s practical storage features include a 13kg gas bottle locker, together with a spare gas bottle storage locker on the starboard side, a mounted bracket to store the engine of the tender, an easily accessible life raft, which is positioned under the steps leading to the cockpit, and an accessible and removable ladder. This area also affords easy access to and from the water. A further mounted bracket can be found at the rear of the boat. It’s ideal for housing an engine or hydro generator.
The sturdy, maintenance-free marine deck is made of cork and resin. It is used in the transom and cockpit areas of the EXPLORATION 45.
From the bow, the anchor chain passes under the deck to the electric windlass, which is located at the foot of the mast. When brought back to the centre of the boat, the weight of the chain significantly enhances its performance at sea.
The sail locker has a watertight bulkhead, and this too offers excellent storage facilities.
A coachroof gives good protection to the deck salon from the sun and heat when sailing in tropical regions. It can also act as an awning.
Other features include thermal and acoustic insulation above the waterline, floor insulation, and electric ventilation. All valves are located above the waterline.
The EXPLORATION 45 can accommodate solar panels, a wind generator and hydro generator. So, you can limit the reliance on fuel to charge the batteries.
EXPLORATION 45: Cockpit Area
There are two wheels with two independent cable steering systems. A sheltered area to the front end of the cockpit ensures adequate shelter and comfort.
The cockpit safety features include numerous handrails and six different areas to hook lifelines. It’s particularly welcome, when the sea is rough.
Essential lines are controlled from the cockpit, and winches are easily accessible from the wheel and the cockpit.
Light, airy and confortable interior
Just two steps down from the cockpit, and accessed by double-glazed, watertight doors with four locking points, making it both safe and secure in bad weather
All salon windows are double glazed, with one opening window just above the galley for extra ventilation whilst cooking.
The compact, yet well equipped galley area of the EXPLORATION 45 includes a stove, double sink with drainer, two fridge drawers and a table. You will also find a seating area with additional storage under the central bench.
Proceeding forward from the salon, you will find a low sea bunk and additional storage cupboards, which could easily be converted to house a freezer drawer or microwave oven.
Another light and airy double cabin is situated aft, port side. It contains a watertight hatch giving access to the steering mechanism. The aft bathroom, again on the port side, is fitted with toilet, basin and shower.
The aft, starboard, technical locker has a watertight hatch, workbench, removable bunk, and a technical zone. This zone can accommodate a washing machine and generator. Nevertheless, this area could be converted to accommodate two additional sea bunks.
The versatile accommodation is available in three layouts. There are two cabins and two bathrooms in the Standard version. The Comfort version has two cabins, two bathrooms, a shower and an extra bunk. You’ll find three cabins and two bathrooms in the 3C2T version.
