The Dufour 520, from the Grand Large line, fits between the 460 Grand Large and the Exclusive line 56. This boat is in fact the worthy heir of the 500 and 512. The Dufour yard kept the high performance hull and also the bridge design of the Grand Large line but redesigned the interior of the boat to make improvements in comfort and navigational safety.
Dufour 520 Grand Large: New arrangement for more space
The first new feature is the aft platform that stretches the entire beam of the boat. It is an aft platform that is very easy to handle and has a swim ladder that provides easy access to the sea. On the transom you’ll find the outdoor kitchen with its grill and sink, which can be used both at port and at anchor. At the rear of the cockpit, the large bench seat is very comfortable while sailing. The helm stations are equipped with consoles that accept 12-inch screens and a telemetric controller for the engine.
The cockpit table, completely redesigned, is made of the highest quality
wood and is equipped with a system that allows you to enlarge the table for meals. As an option, it can be equipped with an electric telescoping leg. It houses an outdoor refrigerator and is equipped with stainless steel fiddles and a cup-holder. There is also a large stowage compartment, which is very convenient. The cushions have been completely redesigned, with the use of very high quality foam.
The deck of the Dufour 520 is wide and ergonomic, it can accommodate large luxurious cushions. The Dufour 520, like the rest of the range, is available in three types of wood: Moabi mahogany, oak and teak. It’s still equipped with the famous movable chart table. The galley is set up on both sides of the boat. On the port side there is the gas stove and sink, and to starboard a worktop and refrigerator. You will also find the classic bottle storage and wine cellar. The bench seat slides under the saloon table, so it’s easier to get around.
Dufour 520 Grand Large: Very modern but always cosy
The cabins on the Dufour 520 have also been redesigned, embellished with more wood, new portholes, blackout
panels and plenty of the storage that makes life on board easier. In each cabin, on each side of the berth there is an individual reading light, an electrical outlet and a USB socket. In the 520’s head, priority was given to the quality of the materials. There are new basins, new faucets, Corian counter tops with side boards.
The aft cabin has two separate berths, plenty of storage space and an inclined headboard with built in lighting. Aft cabins are also embellished with wood and stowage. The starboard cabin has a double berth and the port cabin two single berths. Special attention was given to the indirect lighting, with LEDs at the floor and under the shelving. The Dufour 520 Grand Large is aimed at owners who demand high performance, comfort and high quality craftsmanship.
