The new Jeanneau LEADER 30, the entry level model in the LEADER universe rounds out the range that now includes boats from 30 to 46 feet. This model has a sporty look, but is designed for family cruising. She has two fold ambitions. Day boat outings with family or friends accommodating a large number of guests, and also cruising for four with a maximum of interior comfort. This new LEADER 30 has a sleek design accented by large hull windows. The cruiser is an open top with an optional reverse arch. The LEADER 30, as with the rest of the LEADER line, is developed by Garroni Design.
LEADER 30: Spacious and friendly, like at home
This entirely new model has a new hull developed by Michael Peters, a well-known American naval architect who has designed hulls for Jeanneau for many years. Motorization options include a single D4-260 or D4-300 diesel engine and single or twin Mercruiser petrol engines. Upon boarding you’ll notice the large swimming platform. It is 1m10
long. Only a very few years ago we found this length platform on much larger boats, between 40 and 45 feet. Why the long platform? It’s simple. This allows Jeanneau to offer a very large cockpit and saloon. It can comfortably welcome a large number of guests on board. It also opens the boat to swimming activities and turns the aft into a real living space. For instance, one can install an outdoor barbecue, even a gas barbecue, to prepare meals while your guests enjoy the water.
Aft, there is a large storage locker that can accommodate a dinghy. To starboard, there is a cockpit door with wide passage for easy movement on board. There is a large cockpit saloon, very large and long benches, and an extendable table. This table has a telescoping support and can be lowered to transform the saloon into a sun deck. This is one arrangement. A second consists in lowering the folding aft bench seats to enjoy sunbathing in the back, while maintaining a usable saloon for other guests. To port there is a backrest that forms a sofa at this end of the saloon. It seats two when used with the sun deck arrangement with the lowered table and a central cushion.
This backrest can toggles aft, which allows the copilot and pilot to sit side by side with a view forward while cruising. Facing the cockpit saloon is an outdoor kitchen. It is equipped with a sink and a large storage space which can also be fitted with a refrigerator.
Under the cockpit there is a large storage space that can also house a generator. The boat can be equipped with either an in-port air conditioner or one that can be run with the generator while cruising, or connected in-port. For cooler climates, a Diesel heating option is available. There is storage space under the port bench seat for the BIB or life raft, and under the aft bench there is access to the
aft storage space shown earlier. This seat can be raised for access to the large storage space which can accommodate the generator. There is also a second storage space beneath my feet to store moorings, fenders and also the aft platform barbecue mentioned earlier.
You can access to the fore deck via two wide and comfortable catwalks which are made secure by a high bow railing and handrails. The deck forward of the sun deck is perfectly flat, which allows one to safely raise the anchor using the windlass. The sun deck has two features. It converts into two chaise longues. The deck shower allows you to rinse off without returning aft.
LEADER 30: Comfortable and lighty interior
Now I invite you to come and discover the interior of the new LEADER 30. You will see it right off, as soon as you get below deck, the bright natural lighting in the cabin. The forward hull glazing is standard equipment. The extension all the way to the stern is part of the sea vision options package. In the sea vision package there are also coaming windows and a large skylight above the galley that extends to the rear cabin.
On the port side we find a comfortable, well-equipped galley. A double gas stove can be replaced with a ceramic hob. There is a sink and plenty of storage. There is a storage space for silverware that can also be used as a counter top. Below, there is a large, 65 liter, refrigerator.
It is possible to have more storage space with an optional wardrobe, to supplement the wardrobe located to starboard. There are also optional cabinets that are built in above the hull windows on each side.
Forward there is a large saloon that can easily accommodate five to six people. By lowering the table, it can be transformed into a double berth with some privacy thanks to a curtain that separates it from the rest of boat and the aft cabin, which itself is closed by a door.
The private aft cabin also has a large double berth and to port, there is a bench seat with a large storage chest beneath it, and a lovely wardrobe aft. To starboard you will find the bathroom. It is unique in volume for this size boat, as it has good headroom and plenty of space to shower. As you can see, the new LEADER 30 has a sleek look and spirit. But is above all a family boat, the result of all the experience Jeanneau has acquired with Cabin Cruisers.
